Next Wind Recovery’s partial hospitalization program (PHP) in New Jersey is a level of addiction and mental health treatment between residential and outpatient programs. Also referred to as a day program, a PHP provides an inpatient programs’ structure and intensive approach, but clients can return home on nights and weekends. PHPs are designed to be short-term, expecting clients to continue care in an outpatient program.
The length of treatment in a PHP depends upon individual needs and progress in meeting treatment goals. Upon completing the PHP, our clients move on to our intensive outpatient program (IOP) or outpatient addiction program. There are many benefits to a PHP. To see if this treatment option is right for you, call Next Wind Recovery today at 201.331.6569.
What Happens in a PHP Rehab Center?
At Next Wind Recovery, the partial hospitalization program is our highest level of care. PHP is appropriate for clients who do not require around-the-clock care but would benefit from highly structured, intensive treatment. Following outpatient detox, an assessment with our clinical team will determine if our partial hospitalization program in New Jersey is right for you. If so, you will work with our treatment team to develop an individualized treatment plan.
In general, clients in our PHP take part in treatment several hours a day, five days per week. Some of the components of PHP treatment include:
- Drug testing
- Medication-assisted treatment (MAT)
- Treatment for co-occurring disorders
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Access to medical care
Learning how to relate with others as a sober person is a critical part of the process of recovery. Participation in our PHP allows clients the chance to practice the skills they learn in treatment when they are home at night and on the weekends. PHP treatment is one piece of a full continuum of care. Our program is designed to allow clients to transition into our intensive outpatient program (IOP) and outpatient addiction treatment. We also provide extensive aftercare services.
Who Can Benefit from Partial Hospitalization Programs?
PHP guidelines indicate that it is ideal for clients in the beginning stages of recovery who don’t need 24-hour treatment or cannot commit to residential treatment because of work or family obligations. A PHP is also beneficial as a step-down from inpatient treatment. Often, clients are not ready to jump right back into daily life after inpatient treatment. In these cases, a PHP serves as a transition where clients can practice their new skills at home while still receiving the support and treatment they need. A PHP is a great option to help individuals get back on track following relapse.
In addition to being a practical and effective treatment option for a wide range of addiction, mental health, and co-occurring disorders, some of the advantages of a PHP include:
- Allows you to keep up with personal responsibilities
- Provides structure and support
- Less expensive than residential treatment
- Patients can practice new skills in their home environment
- Provides peer support
- Offers a transition back into independent living
A partial hospitalization program is not appropriate for everyone. However, a PHP is an effective treatment option for individuals motivated for change but need structure and accountability while still having the ability to tend to family and work or school obligations. Additionally, individuals need to have a supportive home environment that is free from drug and alcohol use.
